Bibliotheque | Brand Design

Bibliotheque is a bookstore, cafe, and wine bar (and art gallery) located in New York City’s Soho neighborhood. Olivia Santilli of cummins&partners and Identity hired me to create a set of key brand deliverables with a two-day turnaround.

We expanded the color palette, using classic oil paint colors—inspired by Bibliotheque’s beautiful interior design and architecture.

Using an existing logo and icon, we established a clean, sophisticated design system that is both fresh but classic, with an artful touch. I created a few taglines and peppered the designs with French phrases, inspired by Bibliotheque’s French name—”bibliotheque” means library—and French design references.

The deco-inspired, geometric motif is based on Bibliotheque’s tin ceiling panels.
